Growth too rapid for a small city - 11/3/2017
I grew up in Falls Church and lived there most of my 50 something years. It has gone from a mostly working class town to a upper-income crowded city.
He powers that be have crammed in so many homes, restaurants and stores in this two square mile city. The traffic on the main street is horrendous! They have taken what little open space there was and filled it in with more homes. There are some small, nice parks.
This city is also a pass through city for commuters which makes the traffic even worse. Drivers in the DC Metro area (which Falls Church is part of) are very rude and there is a lot of road rage duet that and stressful jobs.
I always hated the summers here because they are so hot and humid, often in the 90s and occasionally in the low hundreds. Early autumn is the nicest time of year. Spring is often short but can be nice in April and May. Winters are unpredictable. One year there can be a blizzard which shuts everything down for weeks or it can be mild and Read More

Falls Church City Schools - 12/4/2011
The (small) size and high quality of the Falls Church City public school system makes it ideal for families who juggle overseas assignments with stateside living in the Washington, DC area. Your children will be able to sustain friendships despite their occasional absences for several years at a time, and will not get lost in the kind of large public school system found in most of the DC suburbs. In addition, the challenging curriculum and high caliber of teaching found in the Falls Church City public schools are comparable to a quality private school Read More

Stay home if you like clean air--you won't find an - 8/26/2010
I've lived in 3 different states and 30 different locations, and this by FAR the WORST air I've ever had to deal with!!! It's such a beautiful town, but don't be fooled--this little smog hole/pollen hole is only tolerable during winter months.  Read More

Falls Church, VA and families - 1/30/2010
If you are looking for a nice place to live within minutes of the Nations Capital, Falls Church is the prefect place to be. Just to the west of the big city, Falls Church makes you feel like you are living in a small town. Beautiful parks, great activities for kids, and lots of friendly people, all make it a great place to live. It is expensive; everything from housing to summer pool memberships, but if you can afford it, its a great place to raise a Read More

Expensive - 6/2/2008
The area surrounding Falls Church, like most in the greater DC MSA is very diverse. There is a city of Falls Church and a greater "Falls Church" area that are very different with respects to everything, but especially the cost of housing. The city has some of the best schools in Virginia and the price of housing is reflected accordingly. In the outlying areas the schools are not nearly as good and the same house is far less expensive. If interested in this area it is a good idea to look at individual school districts before making a decision, finding an area with good schools are especially important but just keep in mind you are going to pay for Read More

Falls Church, VA - 9/7/2005
Pretty crowded and expensive, but if you dont mind long commutes, and a lot of money for not a lot of house, then its not bad. There are lots of things to do, and DC is only a short trip on the Orange Line of the Metro away. School are excellent, and diverse. Overall, its really a great place to be, just minutes from everything you can immagine. And there is no relation to the western parts of Virginia, for all of you who think Virginia is for southerners. We are just as much a part of the north as New Read More
