Do NOT move to Front Royal, VA! - 1/16/2019
If you are thinking of moving to Front Royal, VA, think again!!! I lived in Front Royal for a little over three years for my retirement. I got to know people who determine the direction of the town and others who have lived in the town all their lives. It is a town of few comforts. There are few doctors unless you drive 50 miles to the east to Fairfax. While the views from and of the hills (not really mountains that far north on the Blue Ridge range) may be appealing, only the very wealthy can afford to live up there. There is no natural gas, and your electricity is provided by Rappahanock Electric Coop. But it took me a while to figure that you are billed for your electricity BY THE TOWN, and you are gouged somehow in that transfer of money to REC. The charges are outrageous for homeowners. Front Royal, from what I have determined, has no near or far-sighted vision of itself. People there know it. There are 17 "derelict" building in the small town itself, and the Read More

Live on the Mountain - 10/30/2010
Live on top of the mountain; air is wonderful, scenery great. Wintertime can
be rough when the roads are icy. My general health has been much better since
moving here in Dec. 2006. The town is quaint, especially Old Town. Many
events are scheduled here especially on Main Street. There a wine festival & Apple Blossom Festival. Music and dancing sometimes at the Gazebo which is at
the end of main street. We also have many wineries and it's wonderful to spend a Saturday visiting one. Health care is available and we have our
own Hospital. One can buy all necessities needed right here. Also schools are available for those who need to send their kiddies to school. People are
pretty friendly here and seem to be quite respectful of older people. In general, a nice place to Read More

Front Royal resident - 10/10/2007
I have been a resident in Front Royal, VA for 15 months. Had moved here primarily for the offer of a job that pays substantially more than what I had made my former residential state. Not only is the cost of living lower (home prices, car fuel and insurance) but also my salary is above the median for this town.Read More

Nice area - 4/30/2007
There is much to do within the immediate area and the extended area. Lots of Civil War historical sites nearby as well as recreational and scenic areas. The Skyline Drive begins here. There is canoeing available on the Shenandoah River. There are caverns nearby or clime to the skys on the rocky mountain faces. The George Washington National Forrest is available with park areas close by. Within a very few hours you can enjoy skiing in the mountains or head to the larger cities of Baltimore,MD or Washington, DC. We have many natural and man made treasures to behold. The fall foilage is amazing! The redbud and dogwood trees in spring! We celebrate all four Read More

small town america - 10/28/2005
Classic small town America, complete with downtown square and gazebo, homecoming parades, town pep rallies for high school football team. Access to great rec activities in the Shenandoah National Forest and surrounding communities as well as big city activities in Washington DC.

We moved here from Florida...best decision we have ever made.

By the way...I don't work for the Chamber of Read More
