What BestPlaces Users Say about Arlington

Arlington, Washington is a small town located in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. It is known for its scenic beauty and outdoor recreation opportunities, as well as its close proximity to larger cities like Seattle and Everett. With a population of just over 20,000 people, Arlington offers a quiet and tight-knit community for its residents. However, the town has also been experiencing growth and development in recent years, leading to a mix of old and new in terms of infrastructure and amenities.

Arlington, Washington has received mixed reviews from its residents. Many appreciate the small town atmosphere and natural surroundings, while others have concerns about development and lack of diversity. Overall, the town seems to be a popular choice for families and those seeking a quieter lifestyle outside of the city.

Review 1: "I've lived in Arlington for over 10 years and it has been a wonderful place to raise my family. The community is friendly and supportive, and there are plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy. However, I do wish there were more diverse options for restaurants and shopping." - Sarah, from BestPlaces.net

Review 2: "Arlington is a great place for those who love the outdoors. I love hiking and biking in the surrounding areas. The town itself is small and charming, but is also growing with new businesses and housing developments." - John, from BestPlaces.net

Review 3: "I recently moved to Arlington and I have to say, it's been a bit of an adjustment. While the scenery is beautiful, I do miss the convenience and diversity of a larger city. It can also get quite busy and crowded during tourist season." - Maria, from BestPlaces.net

Review 4: "I've lived in Arlington my whole life and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. It's a close-knit community and everyone knows each other. The schools are great and there's always something fun happening in town. My only complaint would be the increasing traffic and lack of affordable housing options." - David, from BestPlaces.net

Very high property tax - 10/25/2017
Arlington is a nice area, however the property taxes are very high. We built a home here in 2015 . The home is similar to the one we lived in in Arlington's "twin" city Stanwood our taxes were around 4K per yr there and here they are a whopping 7,040.00. 48% are voter approved (we were not owners when the levies were approved) but they went into effect shortly after. We were re assessed again this summer and the county says the value is up another 50k I know other people who have moved because of the high taxes. We built a home that we could retire in but will probably have to move to a place where the property tax rate is more reasonable. Eventually the high taxes will have a negative effect on the property value.

A comfortable place to live - 8/21/2009
Arlington is north of Seattle. Like the entire Greater Seattle area, the quality of life is easy going. The weather is generally gentle all year long. A little snow in the winter, some years less than others; nice summers, usually not too hot, very comfortable.
Anything a person would want to do is available: mountains for skiing; lakes, sound, and ocean are close by for water sports; cultural pursuits can be found everywhere.
Although, we are in a higher cost of living area, its how I'm used to living. No big deal. The roads are taken care of better than most. The economy is hanging in there compared to other parts of the country.
Arlington crime is low. I haven't seen any of it in my immediate area.
Now if only it would be 72 degrees all year long, with intermittent rain showers to keep it as green as it is, this would be the all time perfect place to live (for me), as it is, it is "near Read More

Something for everyone. - 4/19/2009
We live on the West side of I-5, area known as Smokey Point/Lakewood/7 Lakes. As do several other family members. The area still has a very rural feeling without driving miles. You can see farm land and animals and yet you can have a variety of neighborhoods to suit your family's needs. I can not address the public schools here as my kids are grown. I think that when the economy starts up again, business will take off here as there is so much potential for growth. (Access to freeway, so much land, proximity to Seattle (45 to 60 minutes) and Vancouver, Canada. Just a note, the air smell so nice up here. Friends always comment that the air is so fresh. There is something attractive about living here for all age Read More

I Love It Here - 6/18/2008
Arlington is a small close knit community 40 mile north of Seattle (20 miles north of Everett). If I did not have to go into the city, life would be perfect. When I first moved here, there were few stores the basics provided in town and close by at Smokey Point. It is a great place to raise children and enjoy the rural lifestyle. If you don't mind some rain and enjoy small town life, you will love it hear. You are cloe enough to the big cities to take advantage of all they offer (concerts, stage plays, fine dining, Seahawks, Mariners, shopping and universities) while close enough to the country to enjoy rural activities (wind surfing, hiking, biking, 4-wheeling, Farmers Markets, U-pick berry fields and outlet Read More
