Bremerton, Washington - 1/22/2010
Bremerton, Washington, was once settled as a result of the Civil War. People that are familiar with the Grand Ole South recognize the features. The confederate camp and poorer english settled in Port Townsend and Bremerton. Conneticut brought a baron and his wife, probably the sailors that were whaling, and built the city. The Bremer estate is building a college today. The School of Engineering will be the next addition. The Navy is the biggest income earners, then the state. Washington is a difficult state for small businesses. Seattle the largest city. Much poorer than Read More

Economy BS on here - 3/30/2008
Don't believe the doo do report on here that Bremerton is 5.14% less expensive to live in that the rest of the nation. That is pure raccon crap. Tacoma is waaaaayyyy cheaper to live in. They just like to dangle that BS in front of people looking for a new place to live so they can enjoy taking your money when you get here. Just like always... just cos some site manager puts it on a website doesn't mean it's Read More

Crooked justice system - 3/30/2008
Well your reading about the pot smoking capital of the USA. They even have a pot smoking festival in Seattle once a yr right out on the streets.
Bremerton has a reputation " Come here on vacation, leave on probation. Whether you did anything or not". Now i didn't make this up... i learned it after i moved here.
The military personel get away with everything & anything from driving down main streets at 120 miles an hour to picking fights with the elderly. I was once told by a navy man, in his navy issue uniform driving his navy issue vehicle, when i asked him to move his vehicle from my assighned parking spot where i live, that i didn't know who i was talking to any i'd better shut my mouth. When i told he didn't know who he was talking to he said he'd be back to "take care of my a##". Well i called the navy base, got a report filled out but the guy came back & the property owner had to take care of him cos the police wouldn't even come over even though the man was Read More

Kitsap Transit public bus system - 3/30/2008
Well the only way this buss system could be worse is if it didn't exsist at all. The busses run 1 X per hour except on routes were it's every 2 hrs or only 2 times per day. The bus drivers are snotty, insulent, judgmental, disrespectful, discontented people. They lash out at you, drive by people standing at the bus stop and when you ask the bus drivers for information about the route they are often sarcastic & give you false information or no information. For fun some of the drivers take sport in lurching the bus to try to knock the elderly & disabled off their feet before they can get seated. They will call you names & threaten you when you call them on things like trying to knock down a elderly person with the lurching trick.
The handicapped equipment on the older busses doesn't even work 90% of the time. I find some of the drivers about 2% seem to make an effort. If you are dependant on public transportation this is absolutely NOT the city you need to be in. This buss system Read More

Dirty stuck up pig wallows - 3/30/2008
I've been here for 8 miserable yrs. I've lived in 7 different states & many cities. I have never encountered so many rude, stuck up people in my life. the housing economy is so poor that you can't find a decent place to live where you can have any peace and quiet. The apartment buildings (even the new ones) are so poorly built that you can hear your neighbors take a pee, floors creak, fire prevention can only be successful by not allowing even a match stick on the properties. The rent is successfully jacked up by the greedy property owners who like to stick it to the military families and that of course makes it difficult on the civilian people as well. I'm talking a DUMP will run you $650.00 a month with no amenities unless you count the dishwaher & locks on the doors as amenities.
I have lived in 6 apt complexes in this city & the absolute worst ones for noise are Maple Manor Apts 2700 Maple st and Wellsley Apts (new name Pine Ridge Apts) 3232 Pine rd.

Comments from a former native Bremertonian. - 12/25/2007
Currently I live in Longview, WA, down the road a piece from Bremerton. However, I spent my first 25 years there and visit every 2-3 months on a regular basis. As far as rain and gray goes, as far as I am concerned, and having traveled I-5, it doesn't get any warmer or drier until you cross the border into California. As far as people go, I would say they are about as nice, and in some cases, nicer than the bigger cities. As far as the one comment I saw about trashy people goes - well, I have a few things to say. First, Bremerton is now, after many decades of blocked growth, fast becoming a bedroom destination community to Seattle, catering to mid-level professionals and up as secondary to the military population. Last time I actually lived in Bremerton was in 2004 and I was one of those trashy people that went to DSHS. I am here to say that my car was the worst in the whole parking lot, which was full of brand new, zippy little cars. I have no idea how they could afford it, Read More

It's Ok but very under developed area - 6/3/2007
I lived in Bremerton for 3yrs (Military) and it has pro and cons. The pros about Bremerton is that it is a very small city, so traffic in the area is good at any time of the day. The job market is ok if you are looking for minimum wage jobs but if you are looking for something higher than that the market is very competitive including govt, city, and telemarketing jobs. You can start a business there due to "no" competition at all axcept for a nieghboring mall one city over in Silverdale. This place is ripe for the picking to start a business! The cons are that the school system is not good at all and very behind in academics. Buying a house in Bremerton is very overated and over priced. The nice houses are unaffordable compared to the wages you make. There used to be a downtown area but it's all abandoned and the closest shopping mall is in the next city. This area has a high crime rate for crimes against children. The niegherboring cities would be Silverdale which is nice and small Read More

Wasteland - 3/25/2007
I have never seen so many trashy people in one place in my life. The people aren't as friendly as most other places and there are a lot of just plain weird people. No wonder this state has the highest suicide rate. It rains all the time. This much rain surely can't be healthy. Driving around you see a lot of druggies and there are a lot homeless people for such a small population. Bremerton is hands down one of the worst cities i have ever lived in. I cannot wait to get out of this Read More

Love the rain - 1/13/2007
Having come from a HOT climate in Australia 4 years ago, I must admit I love the rain and contrary to popular belief, it doesn't rain EVERY day, but you have to have a healthy love of the wet stuff if you want to live in Bremerton, because during the fall, winter months there are very few days where there isn't a dry day. It's not heavy driving rain though, more a constant drizzle, and if you stayed indoors because of the rain you'd never get anything done, so you get used to seeing people going about their daily business without even using an umbrella. Wouldn't change a thing though. Love Bremerton, love Washington and love the rain because it makes everything smell fresh and Read More
