What BestPlaces Users Say about Everett

Everett is a city located in the state of Washington, known for its beautiful waterfront and outdoor recreational activities. It is also home to a large Boeing production facility and a bustling downtown area. With a population of over 112,000 people, Everett has a diverse community and offers a range of housing options. However, like any other city, it has its pros and cons. In order to gain a better understanding of what it's like to live in Everett, we will look at reviews from various individuals who have experienced living there firsthand.

According to user "JohnDoe" on BestPlaces.net, "Everett is a great place to live if you enjoy a mix of city and nature. The views of the water and mountains are stunning and there are plenty of parks and trails to explore. The only downside is the high cost of living, especially for housing." This echoes the sentiment of many other reviewers who mention the city's beautiful natural surroundings and the high cost of living.

Another user, "OutdoorEnthusiast", shares their experience by stating, "I moved to Everett for the outdoor opportunities and I have not been disappointed. There are so many options for hiking, biking, and camping within a short drive. The only downside is that the traffic can get pretty bad during rush hour." This highlights one of the challenges of living in Everett - the traffic congestion, especially during peak times.

On the other hand, "JaneSmith" has a different perspective on the city, saying, "I've lived in Everett my whole life and I have to say, it's a great place to raise a family. The schools are good and there are plenty of family-friendly activities. However, job opportunities are limited and the weather can get depressing during the winter months." This review sheds light on the positives and negatives of living in Everett, emphasizing the family-friendly atmosphere but also acknowledging the lack of job opportunities and gloomy weather.

Lastly, "YoungProfessional" shares their thoughts by stating, "I recently moved to Everett for work and I have to say, it's been a pleasant surprise. The downtown area has a great vibe with lots of local shops and restaurants. Plus, the commute to Seattle is not too bad. However, rent prices have been increasing rapidly." This review highlights the downtown area and the ease of commuting to Seattle, but also brings attention to the rising rent prices in the city.

Overall, the reviews from users about living in Everett seem to reflect a mix of positive and negative experiences. The city's natural beauty, outdoor recreation opportunities, and family-friendly atmosphere are praised, but the high cost of living and traffic congestion are common concerns. It's clear that living in Everett can be a unique experience for each individual, and it's important to weigh both the pros and cons before making a decision to move there.

Housing with a view - 1/5/2009
We are residents of Everett since 1995. Living in three different homes during that time, within a few miles of each other. We are within walking distance of Howarth Park, Forest Park and a beautiful water view. From here we can see Whidbey Island, along with a Everett City view. Everett provides many locations that enjoy beautiful views of the Puget Sound and the Read More

Overpriced real estate... - 10/22/2008
Having lived and worked in Everett for over 30-years it amazes me how expensive property has become. Searching for investment property recently I have found only a few homes under 200k and they were total dumps that would require many thousands of dollars to be made habitable. Fairly decent housing starts around 300k and something you may be proud to own will be 350k and up. If the prices don't bother you, consider the Ever-gray skies and rain 10+ months out of the year. Plus, you generally face a nasty commute to and from work due to extremely weak transportation planning since about 1965. On the positive side of things, water and air quality are good, crime rate is reasonably low and area employment is stable. If this all sounds like a winning combination, Everett just may be your kind of town....Read More

Everett, WA-- Clean, affordable, close to everythi - 9/17/2008

Everett, WA is a great American city that offers just about everything that any family needs. Schools are better than average and housing is reasonable at least compared to many westcoast cities. You are close to everything recreational- boating, fishing, snow skiing, hiking, camping, all within 1.5 hours away. You have some of the most spectacular views in the country with the Cascade mountains nearby. You can go to visit two of the great destination cities in Seattle, 30 minutes away and Vacouver, BC within 2 hours. Everett just built a fabulous convention center for shows and athletic events. The city hosts the premier US exporter's manufacturing plant in the Boeing Co. Yes, the weather seems it is at least cloudy most of the time, and at times, one may need a sun lamp to stay sane, but I'd rather be comfortable in the summer at an average high of 75 degrees than live in some of the humid and hot areas of the country where a/c is needed to survive. I live here in Everett, Washington and the crime here is only getting worse. It's because more people with guns are coming here. I really love Everett even though in the winter it rains a lot but during the summer months it's very great because I get to go outside. The people are great here. So if you could please review this, that'd be great. Thnk Read More

Not a fan . . . - 6/23/2008
I moved to Everett with my family last year and we are looking for somewhere new. It is always rainy and cold and summer last only about a month. The people aren't that great, if you have teen's beware, and there is nothing to do. We looked this place up on the internet before we moved here it looked so pretty and nice, NEVER judge a book by its cover. Probable one of the worst decisions we've ever maid.

P.S.

If anyone reading this does decide to move here do not let your teens go to Seattle alone, very bad Read More

I couldn't agree more Donald - 8/15/2007
I moved here from Phoenix a year ago thinking that I would get away from the heat and so what if there is a little rain. I am so tired of rain and mud I'm ready to move back to the heat. 118 degrees isn't all that bad. As far as nothing to do: Even if there is anything to do you can't get there unless you want to spend all day in traffic there and back. There 90,000+ people in Everett and over 1.3 million in Phoenix alone. Rush hour there is 4:30pm to 7:00pm at the latest. Rush hour in Everett is from 11:00 in the morning till 9:00 at night. Where are these people going? There is absolutely no where to go and nothing to do here. It took me an hour to get to the credit union and back and it is only 3.4 miles (approx 9 minutes) according to yahoo maps. I just don't leave the house unless I'm going to work or the store.
