Gold Bar is NOT a great place to live - 9/1/2010
Well I have read the two comments about Gold Bar on here and all I have to say is that I lived there for six long horrible years and I couldn't wait to get out of there! It takes longer than 15 minutes to get to Monroe! The person on here is incorrect. It is NOT beautiful. Just okay and needs a bunch of upgrading. The market there is just okay for groceries. Overpriced because they know that you must drive to Monroe to go to another market they do not own! They rip off the very community that keeps them in business. They own another market in Sultan! I am not surprised about what is happening with the politics there as there were always problems. This is a clicky town and if you are not in the loop you can forget about friendly. It takes over an hour to get to Seattle and that Hwy 2!! What a mess! I wouldn't live there again if you GAVE me a house. Unsophisticated, rednecks, uncultured and just plain boring. A drive through town and even that is Read More

Corruption plaques Gold Bar - 1/4/2010
Since Joe Beavers, Dorothy Croshaw, Lonn Turner, Richard and Mayor Crystal Hill meet behind closed doors and obstructed justice after a former employee sabotaged the City's well system and illegally used the City's credit cards, the government officials began a huge cover-up campaign which has lead to several public records lawsuits.

Just last week, we received a copy of a letter from Joe Beavers to AWC which states that the City will need to increase its insurance policy from 5M to 10M. This is not a good sign that life is in Gold Bar meets the level of Pleasantville that Joe Beavers speaks of over pie and coffee.

Word of advice to Beavers: you don't need any pie, but good use some liposuction. Liposuction is just a metaphor for "clean the city of its corruption." But, as one citizen once said " Dorothy Croshaw has been involved in City politics for at least 20 years. Therefore, one can assume that she is corrupt."

Gold Bar Washington - 6/3/2008
Gold Bar is a little town with incredible beauty. There are astounding mountain views, Wallace Falls Park--with hiking and views and a wide variety of trails... the quaint May Creek and the "perfect-sized-for-summer swimming" Wallace River. If you want drama, the Skykomish River is close by too.

The people are diverse-- from young families to older retirees, and when the days get longer it seems as though almost everyone is out for a walk, jog or bike ride. The elemetary school is brick with maple trees set against the backdrop of mountains... It looks like a picture.

I love that Gold Bar still has big yards (septic systems vs. sewer-- we don't have sewer yet)... there are many modest homes, some expensive bigger ones, and like any town, some that are in poor condition... Over all, though, it is a town filled with a wide array of people, homes and personality. I have found that most of the people I meet and grow to know here are bright and Read More
