Wonderfully diverse - 10/29/2020
This is a wonderful place to live. Lots of sun, and Winters are not as cold as the East coast. With an enormous, thriving and escalating diversity of people, and numerous opportunities for workers in the agriculture field, it is no wonder people are migrating to Wenatchee from the fields of California and cities where cost of living is becoming so high. The Hispanic community there is thriving and provide for wonderful neighbors, connecting ethnicities in a friendly and working community relationship.

Oh, for anyone reading this, I gave them one star because they haven't replaced the English street signs to Spanish yet. We must all learn Spanish here to maintain demographic cohesiveness and traffic Read More

Love this place!!! - 2/15/2017
I grew up in Seattle and spend most of my life there. As much as I love the Seattle area I've always felt the need to leave my home town to explore new horizons. Boulder, CO had always held a special place in my heart so we spend some time considering moving to Colorado. But alas, the mountains of Washington, Canada, Oregon and beyond had our hearts set in staying in Washington. With the attraction of significantly more sun, less rainy days and an active outdoorsy lifestyle at heart, Wenatchee really fit the bill for us. The golden sage hills and eastern slopes of the Cascades were the perfect backdrop to a lifestyle that fit our needs and interests. Now we can hike/climb/backpack to our hearts content without being bombarded by rain storm after rain storm and with a second home/cabin at Lake Wenatchee live the best of both worlds, the mountain wilderness life close to some of the most beautiful high mountains in Washington, no more than 30 minutes access from the cute town of Read More

cost of living - 8/13/2013
As my main residence is in Oceanside Ca. I stay in E. Wenatchee 3 to 4 months a year (spring/summer) I can say that Wenatchee is an expensive place to live...yes more than San Diego Ca.! The only exception is housing. The cost of doing business is also expensive! No state tax but boy have they found ways to generate revenue! It is a great town but I never thought I would be saying it would be more expensive than S. Read More

Mayberry in color! - 2/19/2010
My wife and I visited Anaconda a few years ago and fell in love with the place! We were driving down the main thoroughfare and couldn't believe what we were seeing! Cars were pulling off to the side to watch at least a dozen kids having a birthday party in the middle of a side road. There was a pinata and everything! Just being there gave us a sense of safety and security that we've never experienced before. And we're from the Mississippi Gulf Coast, a place not known for high crime! Everyone we came in contact with was very friendly! It was a beautiful and charming Read More

good place to raise a family or retire - 4/15/2006
It rarely rains, the town is on the east side of the Cascade mountains. Not too many chain restaurants, everything shuts down early too. 3 hour drive to any city. I personally hate it here, but many people like it to raise their families or retire. It is beautiful in the spring time. I like the city and year-round warm Read More

More like the sunshine capital of the world... - 1/24/2006
Wenatchee is a gorgeous area, but the economy is definatley depressed, also not a place for the liberal minded person, the valley is run by conservatives. Night life is non existent but recreational activities are abundant. I lived in Wenatchee for 10 years and noticed a high cancer rate due to pesticide spraying but there is no proof of this as of yet. Property is cheap and sunshine is plenty. Wenatchee is not like Seattle at all! I Recommend this area to conservative families who enjoy the Read More

About Wenatchee, Washington - 9/7/2005
I was born and raised there. Wenatchee boasts many fine recreational opportunities. Mission Ride Ski area is about 11 miles outside of town. Lake Chelan is 36 miles from town. The area sits on the eastern slope of the Cascades and does not experience the rainfall or the overcast skies that the Seatte area experiences. The summers are generally hot and dry with winters being cold. In recent years there has been little snowfall which is a bit unusual for this area. Power rates are probably the lowest in the country due to many dams being in the area. I would not recommend living in the area however. The area has been econonmically depressed for as long as I can remember. At lest for the last 25 years. Very few opportunities and very little job growth. The areas thinking is extremely conservative which will continue to hamper its future Read More
