Great Little Town - 9/15/2010
I went to Concord College which is now Concord University. I pledged Phi Sigma Phi National Fraternity Phi Mu chapter in 2002, my freshman year. I loved everything about Athens. Besides your occasional drunken brawl, there wasn't much violence. There was one cop there when I was there, but I have heard they have finally hired another one. There aren't alot of cities in America that you can walk down the street on a Sat night at 2 am without getting yelled at, something thrown at you by a passing car, or getting seriously injured by some deliquent. I would recommend Athens to anyone that has reliable transportation, since Athens really doesn't have many places for employment. Great Town - 9/15/2010
I went to Concord College which is now Concord University in 2002. I pledged with the Phi Sigma Phi National Fraternity Phi Mu chapter that same year. I loved the town and it's inhabitants. You had your occasional drunken brawl but nothing major. Alot of retirees live there and of course you have the students. In alot of cities you can't walk down the sidewalk at 2 in the morning and not get yelled at by passing teenagers or get something thrown at you or worse. In Athens you don't have to worry about that, at least not when I lived there. I think if you have transportation that it is an ideal place to live. Princeton is 15 mins away along with Bluefield. The Virginia State line is very close as well. It's just the greatest little city in the world in my opinion. Read More
