Unless you have a boat - 9/6/2009
When people come to a lock and dam they dont expect to see a bunch of houses lining the whole shore, the only place to fish is on the dam itself. Not a very good place to take your kids fishing. Next is a place for public hunting and fishing, well if you want to get attacked by thousands of Mosquitos and catch bottom feeding junk, then this maybe your spot. I have been out here for 1 month now, and I have been out everyday to try and find a good spot. There is no good spot in this town unless you have a boat or you know of somebody that lives on the river, or if you want you can spend a whopping $15 at the tremplo fishing dock each person, Crazy if you ask me, I would rather just spend that money on the drive to lacrosse to do some real Read More

A unique upper-midwestern town - 10/5/2007
Trempealeau is a bit unique for the region; a bit left of center, yet tethered by traditional salt of the earth values. Blemishes are present, as in any small town with limited economic and cultural pursuits...but gems lie in the lush river valley and scenic bluff lands. The living is affordable, but have a plan for employment before arriving at the door. The climate is character building, while keeping the riff-raff out: It does build a backbone, which more people across this nation could use a bit more of... There are plenty of days that shine, even in January. Three universities lie within a half Read More

Beautiful - 5/14/2007
Trempealeau is nestled beside the Missippi River and provides gorgeous panoramic views of the water and river bluffs. Boating, fishing and other water sports are steps away with a wonderful marina within view located right at the lock and dam, which is a tourist attraction in itself. Perrot State Park, bordering the town to the north, provides hiking, camping and canoe opportunities and a bike trail goes right through town. Two fabulous restaurants are located in town both with river views, and there are also two small hotels. Trempealeau is located about 2 hours from the Twin Cities and about a half hour from LaCrosse, WI. Trempealeau is going to be a "happening" place in a few years with home developments in progress near town. You will not find a more beautiful Read More
