Laramie, Wyoming is a small city located in the southeastern part of the state. It is situated near the Laramie River and is home to the University of Wyoming. Laramie offers a blend of outdoor activities, a strong sense of community, and a low cost of living.

Laramie, Wyoming has received mixed reviews from its residents. Many people praise the small-town feel and welcoming community, while others mention the harsh winters and lack of diversity. According to user reviews on BestPlaces, the overall livability score for Laramie is 6.8 out of 10. One review by Sarah R. highlights the sense of community in Laramie, stating "Laramie has a strong sense of community and everyone is genuinely friendly and welcoming." Another resident, John B., echoes this sentiment, saying "Laramie is a great place to live if you value a strong sense of community and a slower-paced lifestyle." However, some residents like Amy M. mention the harsh winters as a downside, saying "The winters in Laramie are brutal, with very cold temperatures and heavy snowfall. It can be tough to get around in these conditions." Another reviewer, David S., points out the lack of diversity in the city, stating "Laramie is not a very diverse city, which can be a drawback for some people." Overall, it seems that Laramie offers a tight-knit community and a lower cost of living, but may not be suitable for those who are not fond of cold winters or value diversity in their city.

Awful - 10/12/2008
I live in Laramie for almost 2 years and did not like it at all. If you know someone, it maybe a better fit for you. My family moved there and did not know anyone. His job through Wyo Tech brought us to there. The mall is Wal-mart, not many activities there. You had to go to Fort Collins, CO or Cheyenne for any kind of normal civilization. The people were not friendly at all or helpful. The housing market was more expensive and limited. The cost of living was greater and wages are less. I would not recommend this city or Wyoming to anyone. Colorado was Read More

Laramie is a great place, but it is limiting. Everything closes early and there is quite a limit to the goods that are readily available here. The University of Wyoming is here so there is access to art and culture and sporting events. But you almost always have to leave town for special purchases. But you couldn't ask for a better place to raise your kids. It is very safe. You don't worry about them playing outside or riding their bikes around town. It can be very cold and it is VERY windy here. It does get very nerve grating after Read More

Low traffic, low crime, long winters - 1/8/2008
The title pretty well sums up living here. Close to good outdoor recreation, hunting, fishing, camping. Moderate, not cheap housing. Lived on the front range in Colorado for quite a few years and I like everything better about Laramie except the long winters and the Read More

Laramie has a very nice small town feel to it despite being a college town.
Laramie is a very pretty town and has a TON of outdoor options in your backyard.
Univ of Wyoming has a good reputation as a school for higher learning. Laramie
is nestled on the high plains between two gorgeous mt. ranges the Snowy Range
and the Laramie Range. The people are very friendly. The crime rate is very low.

The town has VERY limited job options and doesn't offer the festivals, pro sports or museums you would get in a larger area. The winters can be very rough and very Read More

What are you looking for? - 9/17/2007
If you are looking for museums, shopping malls, and cultural events; Laramie is the wrong place to be. If you are looking for friendly people, outdoor activities, and a small town environment it is wonderful. I have lived in Laramie for 21 years. It is a wonderful place to raise children. We are an hour from Cheyenne; a bit more from Fort Collins, CO; and 2.5 hours from Denver. In other words we can have the benefits of the big city if we want combined with the clean living of a small university town. Besides the views are outstanding! We are 40 miles from the Snowy Range Mountains and 15 minutes from Vedauwoo. If you like climbing, hiking, skiing, camping, out door activity and a friendly environment; this is the place to Read More

Awesome town - 11/10/2006
Laramie really is a wonderful town in an untouched wilderness. It has the University of Wyoming, so like Ft. Collins and Boulder it has all the cultural opportunities a major university offers. At the same time, the two mountain ranges surrounding Laramie (Snowy and Laramie) are devoid of the crowds those two towns have. It's a great place to raise a family or retire. The schools are good, and it's near the bigger cities of Cheyenne and Ft. Read More

A Bike is a vehicle - 6/27/2006
Today as I was parking my bike on capmus near a construction project, One of the construction workers walked toward me. I was sure he was walking pass me on his way to a parking lot. However, it turned out that the bike next to mine was his and it was pulling his tools.

Laramie is a bike town. The are icons of bikers on most streets, identifying the bike lanes. For most drivers there is no contest between a bike and a car, the biker gets the right of way. When I pass a grade school and expect to see a van or a suburban, I see mothers on bikes dropping the kid and the bike off at school. I see people riding them to work. Lots of places to park a bike. That's my kind of Read More

Wonderfull Wyoming - 4/18/2006
Wyoming is one of the last pristine places left in this fabricated world. and I say world because of the overall population of this state. But really come on people I have every right to be conceded because I believe along with the rest of the 500,000 people, many of which I recognize through high school sports, that this is the last place on earth that you can be this free. I will leave you with this note if you are looking for fun go somewhere else because to an out of stator Wyoming will seem very depressing because of the lack of activities but if you are in love with nature you can really find your self and understand what life is all about. Its the pristine views that you can always look forward too, with no mansion sitting on the ski line, more often than not you will spot an elk or an antelope in the ski line of our vast beauty.

P.S. Im not saying other places in this world arent beautifull but growing up here, you have a hard time leaving the privacy and freedom Read More
