Connecticut is a state located in the Northeastern region of the United States. It is known for its scenic landscapes, rich history, and top-rated educational institutions. According to many user reviews on BestPlaces, living in Connecticut offers a high quality of life with a strong sense of community. However, there are also some common concerns mentioned by residents, such as high cost of living and traffic congestion.

Similarly, John from Stamford loves the cultural diversity and amenities in the city. He says, "Stamford has a vibrant and diverse community. There are plenty of job opportunities and great amenities for both families and young professionals."

On the other hand, some users express concerns about the high cost of living in Connecticut. Sarah from New Haven states, "The cost of living in New Haven is significantly higher than other parts of the country. It can be tough to afford a comfortable lifestyle here." Michael from Hartford also mentions the issue of traffic congestion in the city. He writes, "Hartford is a beautiful city, but the traffic can be a nightmare. Too Many Cars - 8/4/2008
There are too many cars for the number of highways in CT. It is possible to spend one hour going three exits whenever there is an accident. I enjoy almost everything else about the state; great beaches, hiking trails, shopping, etc. But the traffic congestion diminishes our quality of Read More

Transportation - 5/22/2008
I work in Bridgeport and live in Stamford. The only way I can commute is by car. I would like to take the train, but there is no place to leave my car at the train station. There is a very very long wait for any parking spots in Stamford, Noroton Heights, and Darien. I've been told from 2 - 5 years. There is no bus, to the best of my knowledge that goes from Stamford to Bridgeport. If we are to help the environment and reduce traffic on I-95 there should be a way to travel between CT's bigger Read More

Utopia...if you can afford it - 4/25/2008
Moved here from Northern California about 5 years ago. Have been living in a small town in Litchfield County ever since. Yes, the cost of housing is expensive....and so is heating oil, etc.. But let me tell you this, I live in a town of about 4,000 people and I haven't locked my doors since moving here. In fact, I honestly don't have any idea where my house keys are. We don't lock the doors when we go on vacation!!! Do you know why there are so many generations of families that never leave New England? Because there is no better place to move..period. We've lived in the south, we've lived out west, we have family that live in the central states, Connecticut...and the New England region in general is the only place left in the country where you can still find Ozzie and Harriet...Leave It To Beaver, etc... I NEVER want to move from Read More

Connecticut's For the Rich - 10/9/2007
CT is a pretty state that has three fatal flaws:
1. For such a small state it feels very overcrowded and population density is high.
2. High cost of living including taxes on just about everything. They even charge you a property tax each year on your car, so if you buy a new(er) car expect to pay a couple of thousand each year.
3. Housing and land are cost prohibitive for all but the wealthy. Middle class feels the squeeze. Of course, the underclass gets a free ride on just about everything thanks to onerous taxes and ever-expanding social services. Wait till the State builds a methadone clinic in your town.
The best county is Litchfield if you can stand the long Read More
