What BestPlaces Users Say about Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania, also known as the Keystone State, is a popular destination for those looking to settle down and start a new life. With its diverse landscapes, rich history, and bustling cities, it's no surprise that many people choose to call Pennsylvania home. However, like any state, Pennsylvania has its fair share of pros and cons when it comes to living there. To get a better understanding of what it's like to live in Pennsylvania, we'll be summarizing various user reviews from BestPlaces.net in this particular place.
According to Sarah S., who has been living in Pennsylvania for 3 years, "The people here are friendly and the cost of living is reasonable. I especially love the changing seasons and the beautiful fall foliage." On the other hand, John K. shares, "The state has a high tax rate and the job market is not as strong as other states. It can be tough to find decent-paying jobs." These contrasting opinions highlight the balance between the perks and drawbacks of living in Pennsylvania.
Another user, Maria T., emphasizes the state's rich history, stating, "I love the small towns and the historical sites scattered throughout the state. It's a great place for families to raise their kids and learn about American history." This sentiment is echoed by David R., who adds, "The education system here is top-notch, with great schools and universities." These reviews highlight the state's cultural and educational opportunities, making it an attractive place to live for families.
While many users praise Pennsylvania for its natural beauty and charming small towns, some also mention the issue of pollution. As noted by Christine M., "The air and water quality in some areas can be concerning. It's something to consider if you have health concerns." This is a valid concern for those considering living in the state and showcases the importance of doing thorough research before making a decision.
In conclusion, user reviews on BestPlaces.net provide valuable insights into the experience of living in Pennsylvania. The state offers a mix of friendly communities, diverse landscapes, and rich history, but also has its challenges such as high taxes and pollution. Ultimately, the decision to live in Pennsylvania will depend on an individual's personal preferences and priorities.

High cost of living, unfriendly people, fiscially - 5/5/2010
Pennsylvania has a incredibly high cost of living and it simply isn't worth it by reasonable standards. We live about 30+ miles outside of Philadelphia in Douglass Township. The cheapest possible property tax you can honestly expect for a house that is less than 20 years old is $5k. Property taxes usually fall into the $6300 (average) range to over $10k for the "most desirable neighborhoods."
The housing prices are also very expensive unless you are willing to commute a long distance. My husband works 21 miles from our house and it takes him 45 minutes to drive it on the best day which I guess isn't too bad considering the large population between home and where he works. But, due to the high cost, you can't choose to be close to work, you have to find housing that you can afford which means a long commute. You really need a $150-175k salary to live a truly middle class lifestyle here. You can live well on $100k provided you have no debt and no kids.

Drove across the states to relocate to Schuylkill Co., PA so have experience with many state's drivers. PENNSYLVANIA IS THE WORST. OMG, NO ONE goes the speed limit, CHRONIC tailgating on a DREADFUL road system. Engineers in this state have to be the bottom of the barrel; even mall parking lots are convoluted. WHY is EVERYONE in such a HURRY?? Can't wait to relocate - IF I CAN MAKE IT OUT OF HERE ALIVE!!! Sad, sad situation. As someone mentioned earlier, school taxes are insane; SOMEONE'S getting rich while the citizens are getting the

If your not from here, don't even think of moving here. Seriously if you weren't born here, no one wants to know you. We moved here 11 years ago from Massachusetts, and most everyone we have had contact with, judge you first, make their assumptions, and then ignore you. The only people that are friendly are the Amish!
If I had known how rude everyone was out here, I never would have moved. I made the mistake of selling all we had, and settling here. Now I cannot afford to go back, or anywhere for that matter. Yes, the cost of lviving is cheaper here, but I wouldn't mind paying a little more to find non-judgemental
