Review of Alexandria, Virginia

terrific city
Star Rating - 3/12/2006
Alexandria is a terrific place. Because it's so close to DC it has a very educated, politically conscious and liberal population, with a large gay segment and decent numbers of African Americans and other minorities. Old Town is 400 years old and has lots of character. Housing prices are high unless you're from either coast. Percentage of children is quite low--about 20%--reflecting a housing stock with lots of apartments, condos, and townhouses. DC access is easy and well served by public transportation. But for most other places you have to drive.
