Review of Anchorage, Alaska

However, the air here is great!
Star Rating - 5/9/2006
Anchorage is a good town for people who like cold weather, are old and don't want to go anywhere, like grey skies all year, and can live on about 5 hours of daylight in the winter, and sleepless nights in the summer. The summer here is about two months long, autumn is for about one month, and the rest is winter. In the winter all the roads are compleatly covered with ice, and this year it even snowed in May.
If you ever call a company in the lower 48 states, like and insurance company for example, they usually will give you a high rate for insurance, and some of them just tell you that they don't work with Alaska. They don't consider Alaska part of the U.S. The mail usually takes at least one week more to get here than in the continental U.S. Anything new that happens in the lower 48 states, gets to Alaska in about two-three years (ex: fashion, movies.) The food here is not ripe most of the time, it rots before it gets ripe. Winter is very, very, depressing so many people take anti-depressent pills and go to dangerous tanning beds. A lot of the men here just like to fish and drink. The college doesn't offer a degree in law or a doctorite. However, the air here is great!

Are you joking??? most of the above review is rubbish. I lived in Anchorage for 14 years, moving to Wa in 2004. We get all of the same movies..on the same date they first come out as anywhere else in the lower 48, my mail was quicker in AK than it is here in Seattle, my car insurance was cheaper and definetly housing in Ak is much more affordable. The school were less crowded and Yes...My fruit was fresh and plentiful while I lived there. I think you have watched too many episodes of Northern Exposure!!!!
