Nowhere actually needs more ethnic diversity. Chirst, just travel, that’s what traveling is for. Or did you mean more income diversity? LOL

Having lived in Asheville, I thought I wanted to move back - but terrible decision, now trying to LEAVE. If one is homosexual, it will be great! If you like sunshine, forget it, rare sun, ever constant dreary, wetness, instead of rain so much drizzly days. Black mill dew forms on every thing. Yes, seems weather changes every where. Last week SNOW forecast, WHITE snow would have been welcome change but it didn't stay. I can't wait to get out of here. I have never felt so totally alone and miserable - but I am a "mature" woman with no friends nor family. Here, I hesitate to get in a conversation with a woman since so MANY are lesbians! THAT is what I have experienced for a year in Asheville!

I live here, there is a highly visible population of African-Americans and Hispanics here, which is reflected in very active advocacy groups, as well as the considerably left-leaning political slant of Asheville city (but less so in Buncombe county). Historically wages are low, chief employers are hospitality/tourist branch. Housing price are certainly high in relation to wages, but without the "rich people" there would be far fewer jobs. Maybe you prefer the 1990s when Asheville was largely boarded up because too few "rich people".
