Baxter in the Central Lakes Region

Baxter is a good place to live. It is a regional center for retail activity, with lots to do, and more than 400 lakes within 30 minutes from the city limits. There are a number of schools, both public and also private, charter schools and Christian schools. Even though Brainerd and Baxter together comprise a micropolis of about 20,000 people, there are many large lots in the city, so it has a feel that your home is private and not crowded. The costs have increased in recent years, and the city council is fond of taxation without regard to the people, but still, the quality of life is good in Baxter.
