Belhaven is a quiet little town, located on the inner banks - perfect for retirees. Fishing is good and boating is even better. Sail boats and other types of boats are abundant. We've even had cruise liners pass through. We have one grocery store, 3 gas stations, and an Ace Hardware in addition to several small privately owned shops. The politics in Belhaven have been in discord for years, with town council meetings being a joke until recently. Utilities rates are high. To get to the nearest retail store, one must travel approximately 30 miles to Washington or 60+ miles to Greenville. Many of the locals are biased against color and "yankees" ("Yankees" are anyone not from here, according to many.)
