Review of Bend, Oregon

Bend has sunshine and outdoor activities.

Bend is great if you like the outdoors year round. I moved here because it was similar to the mountain life I enjoyed in Colorado for over 20 years and really wanted to experience the Northwest. Bend is more affordable with many similar lifestyles. With that said I think Bend is too expensive for what it offers, grocery stores are more expensive in general than world class resort towns I lived in Colorado. Not sure what that is all about. People are great, coworkers, neighbors, and ones I meet on the trail.
Many locals or people who moved here for what it offers are not happy with so many people now moving here. Man oh man I just can't handle that argument, same story where I always live. I tend to live in nice places and people discover it and want to move there. That freakin' simple people. I know it drives up costs, increases traffic, etc. But it is what it is.
I might be moving due to not enough work here for me in hospitality industry. Seems to be lots of active older people who don't need to work, I fit into one of those categories There are younger people because it is a fun town, but not many in between, not a big deal, just saying.
Weather is great, milder than Rocky Mountain winters (but ice storms are here, not used to that) and you have to go to the snow vs living in it. And summers are nice, not too hot, smokey unfortunately 2 of out of my the 4 Septembers I lived here.
Bend has great access to mountain biking, hiking, paddling, skiing of all sorts and is a great town. It is only about 3 hours to Portland and a bit longer to coast. And oh yea, great breweries too, I used to brew beer when younger so I have a palate for that. Fun outdoor restaurants and breweries.
Let me know next town you find for me in the West ( I am from East but love the West now), looking for larger town, would love all the outdoor activities, a few more higher paying jobs (not tech).
