What is it like in Bend for the 20-30 year old crowd? What is cost of living? Will 45K a year cover a single's living expenses?

Yes 45k will be fine in Bend. Probably get a nice house these days. As for David's comment........... It only averages a few inches of snow a year in Bend and the summers are stunning. Hot dessert??? Hello Arizona! If you havent moved you should it's an awesome town.

If you like cold and snow in the winter, and hot desert in the summer, and lots of retired people. and don't mind working at McDonalds, then move to Bend! If your into rock climbing, and desert activities, then it might be Ok for you. Personnaly, I have been thinking about moving to Arizona! Funny. its always green on the other side of the fence...

Bend is expensive. Don't let anyone fool you. Arizona cost of living is much less expensive. Yes it's cold. While Bend is much better then Portland, it's still the Pacific Northwest. Make sure you have a job before moving, the whole state is an economic mess.
