Life In Grant Township
Star Rating - 11/14/2009
Grant Township, Mecosta County Michigan is a farming community, It was establihed in about 1861. The Canaan family moved here at that time. We are a township in central western Michigan. The township is located 12 miles to the Northeast of Big Rapids and is 6 square miles. Most of the land is farming land,They raise corn and Hay. There is rolling hills. Some of the farmers also raise cattle and some are milk farms. Alot of the families are long time resident and have family ties with each other. Our family has been here since 1861.We have the famous Haymarsh located within our township. The Haymarsh is a state land area with 102 types of birds you can watch and also deer. The big joke here is we have 8000 acres of parking and no shopping. Most of all know each other and we watch out for one another. Our children are transported to either Reed City School District or Big Rapids School District. We have Ferris State University in Big Rapids for higher education. We have to go to Big Rapids, for medical treatment and any shopping.
