While Binghamton is charming to look at, with lots of old beautiful Victorian homes, finding gainful employment is somewhat of a challenge. Government county jobs are popular to get and are viewed as good paying. The average employment section in the newspaper and online consists of 1/3 of jobs that one would expect to find. Neighborhoods are also deceptive. Beautiful areas are often high crime areas. For such a small area there are a lot of homeless shelters. If you were not born in the area, you will probably not develop the attatchment to it that locals do.
