California makes me feel poor

It seems my husband and I make decent money. However, we are constantly struggling financially and feel like we would never be able to afford to buy a home here. We consider ourselves somewhat "low income", yet we don't qualify for any low-income benefits offered in our state because we make too much money. It is very frustrating. We would love to move someplace else where we can grow and thrive and make a comfortable home for our family.
