Carleton-Maybee, MI is a great get away from the hustle of the city. It is a 1/2 hour (or so) drive to larger metro areas (Monroe, Ann Arbor, Toledo, OH and Windsor, CA - skip Detroit, no one lives there).
It is a calm environment full of farm land and friendly people.
What needs improvement in the area are the roads (waiting for Ohio to annex us so we can get paved roads) and utilities (no cable for internet in places). Running water is being planned for most of the township, for now we have water delivered into holding tanks (not rain water, but its possible).
If you like peace on your own 20 or so acres (with a huge stocked pond) for a very decent price, you can grow your own food (vegetables and farm animals) and still be close to "civilization" when you feel like a movie or a restaurant night out. We would be nicer human beings if we all had space like we do in Maybee, MI.
