Review of Cedaredge, Colorado

Great Retirement Area
Star Rating - 8/8/2010
After looking at the Sperling Website and doing research...moved to Cedaredge 3 years ago and have no regrets. The climate is four seasons but not the extreme below zero temperatures that the mountains have or the snow. The air is rated very good, we are at the source of some of the best tasting and clean water. The recreation is great...Up on the Grand Mesa, snowmobiling, snowshoeing and a huge cross-country skiing area. Summers you have golfing, hiking, biking and fishing. You sit where the mountains end and the canyonlands begin-many great areas are two hours or less away (Moab, Telluride, Glenwood Springs, Snowmass, Crested Butte, Ouray, Gateway, Ridgway-plus you have the National Monument, Escalante Canyon Wilderness and the Black Canyon of the Gunnison close by with the Grand Mesa as your back yard). Seven types of apples, cherries, peaches, plums and pears are grown in this area, produce flourishes and quite a few wineries. No crime to speak of. Cost of Living is reasonable. The biggest cons are lack of jobs, shopping and culture. There are many artists and musicans in the valley but not a lot of exposure for them. Though in the summer most of the surrounding small town festivals have music and so do the resort areas. Montrose and Grand Junction both an hour or less away and have big box shopping. There is a hospital in Delta and St. Mary's Hospital regional hospital in Grand Junction. If you can give up your Starbucks and Broadway hit plays, this is a great place to live.
