Review of Charleston sc Not Fo, North Dakota

Frightening rate of medical malpractice.
Star Rating - 7/21/2021
Serious lack of health care and "good old boys club" whereby doctors will not even see the patient but diagnose them based on referring doctor. My sister died there for lack of proper diagnosis and being refused from at least three specialists because they based their diagnosis from the first doctor she saw who referred her for second opinion. How I wish she got on a plane to NY or FL or even GA. It's like a 3rd world country when it comes to healthcare and education and females are treated as they were in the early 1900's. Her doctor laughed at her and told her she was being hyper paranoid. For real, this is a frightening place if you are ill.

I absolutely agree. I am in Spartanburg, SC and I agree about the medical care. Keep in mind that the Original comment was written 3 years ago. So, things have not changed. I lost my mother here two years ago. She went to emergency and laid in the hospital for 24 hours with internal bleeding before she even received any kind of care. Unfortunately, She never came home from the hospital and died there. The doctors were dismissive and nonchalant as if they could care less. I have had my own health challenges since moving here, which required me to visit a slew of doctors who did nothing for me but run up a medical tab. Had it not been for the grace of God I might not even be here typing this comment. Up north my doctors were compassionate and they actually cared about people. I even had my doctor call me when I relocated down South. Even she was worried about the quality of care I would receive here. I know many others who have lost people here under this crumbling healthcare system, not just older people, young people as well. Prior to this I lived up north and the difference in healthcare is astonishing. South Carolina needs a complete healthcare overhaul. My advice is to find somewhere else to move to where your health and family's health will be valued. Its not about having money here either. Wealth or no wealth, the health care is the same for everyone here

I am in Dallas, and to be fair, medical doctors suck everywhere. They do not diagnose patients by symptoms any more. My mom had a pleural effusion and pericarditis. Her doctor just sent her home. He had not even done an adequate x-ray.

I've had nothing but the best care from my doctors (general practitioner, cardiologist, dentist).

Lived here 7 years now, and could not agree more. Healthcare here is terrible. They are more worried about padding their stats than actual health care. MUSC kept putting off my wife's heart valve surgery for weeks, as she lay dying at home until I just rented a car and drove to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, who couldn't believe they didn't do the surgery right away. Mayo Clinic had to admit her for a week to get her healthy enough to do the surgery.
