re: Dallas is the Most Boring and Pretentious City - 8/10/2013

I'm from Dallas, and I kinda agree to some degree. It seems Dallas is very expensive if you try to live in the Downtown or Uptown area, or Uptown closest to downtown. Also, it seems that only the White people have enough money to enjoy the new attractions (like the new park that covers the freeway; and it has what looks like a restaurant with valet parking, very classy looking).
Dallas seems to be getting a little more 'livelier' lately, but you have to have money to be able to enjoy any kind of night life.
The City is growing rapidly,
But mostly immediately North of Downtown, and pretty much the Entire North. While the South is being ignored.
I also agree about the racism. It is there, but it is hidden.
Much like in California. (I've lived there)
What I CAN say, is that people here are nice for the most part.
You ask someone a question, and they will answer you. In Northern California, people will just pretend they didn't hear you.
There is a lot of Reverse Racism going on, though, as well;
There is a Walmart on the I-30 Freeway and Cockrell Hill rd. Where
there are nothing but Blacks working the registers. And they take their sweet time swiping one article after another.
They actually carry conversations with the cashier next to them, as if they are not even trying to get their job done.
This doesn't seem racist at FIRST, but then when you look at the 20 or so plus lines, and each one is Backed-up Far into the clothing area(s) and they are FILLED with White and Hispanic people (this Walmart is, by the way, in a White and Hispanic area)
You realize that these black people do not care to get their customers out of the way. I've actually waited in line there no less than 45 minutes every time I've gone there.
And one of the cashiers told me herself, that they all know each other and that the Manager (who is also black) hires only black people. I quit going there 2 years ago. But I hear it is still the worst. And no one has done anything about it.
As for the 'boring' (back to the subject) Dallas DOES seem to be a lot of people that have families, and they go to church (there is a church on nearly every corner in some areas (!)
I have never seen so many churches in my life . !
So it makes sense that there are not a bunch of clubs downtown or anywhere else.
There are plenty of BARS, and restaurants, stores and Malls.
There are not a lot of CLUBS. Not downtown, anyway. Although I HAVE seen about 3 and they are not near one another.Which is what, I guess People in Dallas prefer ... ?
(I should say, that I am one of those that stays in at night, also, so I can only talk about what I see. There might be more)
I love Dallas, but I agree that it needs to mix it up.
But It will take some time.
The Uptown area is growing fast, and with it, I expect More nightlife there. But in the Downtown area,
it is mostly restricted to the Rich, and to the Corporate buildings.
