Durham - Funky town with true grit

Durham suffers from an image problem that is based more on fear and racism than people's real experiences. It is a great historic, tobacco town with a world class university/hospital and facinating historic neighborhoods. It is not crime free, but rates similarly to other cities with similar socio-economic demographics. Don't let the elitists in Chapel Hill and Raleigh taint your opinion. See for yourself!
