As with all areas, there are the good and bad about Escondido and North San Diego County in general. I love Escondido's small town feel, and lower gas prices (the lowest in the county!). I do not like the insufferable heat without ac, the distance it takes to go anywhere, and the many many poor areas of the city.

I do not understand this belief that it takes a long time to get anywhere. Sure things are bad at rush hour--name a place in Southern California where that is not true--but otherwise I can get to the coast or downtown in about half an hour. Is that so bad?
