Review of Estes Park, Colorado

Star Rating - 11/15/2007
Estes Park is ideally located next to Rocky Mountain National Park, with its miles of trails and tons of backpacking sites. Elk, deer, coyotes, bobcats, mountain lions, and all the smaller critters you would expect to find are in abundance here. The towns of Boulder and Longmont are a 30 minute drive and Denver International Airport is about a 2 hour drive. Because it is a tourist town, traffic can be heavy in the summer months, but you will also find lots of shops, restaurants (many are only so-so), and other facilities. Estes attracts lots of retirees, many from the Midwest. Town politics tend to be conservative, but that is changing somewhat. No ski resorts, no high-end frills, but a nice place to live overall.
