Review of Eugene, Oregon

Comparison Pacific NW to Southern CA
Star Rating - 5/14/2008
Climate: Eugene's climate is milder than the east coast, but colder and rainier than the southwest U.S. Eugene is only about an hour from the ocean -that beach is less populated or developed, but cold. Summers are hot and dry, for the most part.

Economy: The lower salaries, depending on profession, are pretty much in line with the lower priced housing and overall cost of living. Gas prices are up above the national average. Some say property tax is high. But there is no sales tax.

People: Majority are hippies, mixed with college students attending the University of Oregon, and a small population of upper class professionals. It is not as crowded here, there isn't the traffic (I-5 is 2-3 lanes through most of Oregon, until you hit Portland).
