Great place to live, especially if you are a hippi

I went to the UO and thought it was a great school. I wanted to stay if there was a job market but unfortunately there wasn't one. There are too many educated people fighting for minimum wage jobs at Wild Oats.
It would be a great place to raise kids-lots of outdoorsy things to do, very beautiful and peaceful, etc. Its also very blonde and white. No diversity at all. A few ethnic people mixed in but its not a cultural mecca AT ALL. Its nothing like Evanston, IL, Northwestern U which could be compared to Eugene in many ways-except so much more diversity and culture-b/c its next door to Chicago. I was so happy and relaxed in Eugene, until my loans ran out and had to get a job. You have to make sacrifices if you want to live here. DON'T move here w/o a job first. Same thing w/Portland.
