Property taxes utility bills
Star Rating - 1/19/2008
Property taxes are too high, people here loose their homes because they can't afford the taxes. Open a news paper and see all the homes being auctioned at the court house steps. I purchased a home for 160,000 and was paying close to 4,800 in property taxes a year. H.O. insurance, 1200.00 ,car insurance really high a lot of dumb drivers there. Life threating storms:tornados, baseball size hail, black ice, high winds. Climate terrible hot, muggy, jungle heat only April,May,late October are decent. Electrical bills average 450.00 in summer your A/C comes on in May and doesn't stop till late October 24/7. Home apreciation non exsisting your lucky to get back what you paid for it and write off all the taxes you paid you'll wont see that money again. No thanks worst mistake I ever made. Only good thing I enjoyed was the T.C.U. football games that I miss (GO-FROGS) Las Cruces N.M. best place to live for the money.

I lived and worked in Dallas 20 years, both rented and had a home (wish I still had). It is a hot, humid miserable place to be during the summer. If humidity bothers you don;t move to Dallas/Ft. Worth. In the Summer you hibernate in air conditioned houses, malls or There is no such thing as Spring or Winter. What feels like Spring lasts all of 2 weeks and then it is hotter than H-E-double hockey stick. Winters are mild with a few cold snaps, sometimes ice that freaks out everyone. Spring storms often bring impressive thunderstorms, wind and hail (some as large as baseballs) and tornado warnings. I never saw a trnado but saw the sky turn the ominous green brings damage to roofs, flooding and up rooted trees. sky that a few times and the storm didleft the city and went camping in AK, WA OR as often as possible to escape the heat. Getting out of the shower I felt I was sweating as I was drying off. I longed for 4 seasons and snow so I moved to AK and then WA. Now I live in the least churched state of the union-in the least churched county of the state. The people are not at all friendly and most are dow right mean. Sad to say, the Christians I know are probably the reason more people aren’t Christians. Personally I miss the folks of Dallas-and Christian friends I had. Things I did not like was everyone rushing to get somewhere fast.
