Review of Fowler, Colorado

1950's Small Town Living
Star Rating - 10/6/2020
I visited Fowler for 3 days during Sept 2020 due to a vehicle problem. While limited by the Covid epidemic, I walked around town quite a lot & distance-chatted with people. The town seemed to be a pretty intact small ag-based town with 50's values & very friendly. People wave at strangers & ask if you need help. Houses & cars were generally maintained OK. The ag economy work is supplemented by a couple of prisons nearby. Mostly White, maybe 10% Hispanic, saw only 2 people who were Black & 0 Asians, so don't know how the friendliness factor might be different if you are a POC. Lots of Trump 2020 signs/flags & no Biden signs. Older men hang out on sidewalk benches in front of stores to be sociable. Less than 5% wear masks in public. Lots of Christian/Catholic churches. If the culture is a good match for you, this seems like a very friendly affordable & safe town.
