Lean liberal and considering moving to GJ? You might rethink your decision. Tolerance levels for democrat party agendas are pretty low here. Mesa County voted for Trump 62.5% in 2020. While smaller cities in Mesa County and adjoining counties have built new recreation centers, Grand Junction voters and city counsels have nixed this positive alternative for youth activity for several decades. Many District 51 schools, with the exception of CMU, perform poorly. Building a new main library lost approval for years and years. It took private donations and a long wait before the old one was finally remodeled. Most elected city and county officials consider their positions a career and constantly vote-in projects that are unnecessary and line deep pockets. Traffic is thick and too many drivers are inept, rude, and even dangerous. Wages are low and the cost of living is high. If you can ignore these and other things, such as artless urban sprawl, the Grand Valley is a nice place to live. The climate is good, nearby outdoor recreation opportunities are abundant, and most people are very friendly. I'm in my sixties, was born here, lived eighteen years of my life in other places, and came back in '97. For sanity's sake I don't talk politics with people I don't know, especially mask-less ones.
