It is by far the best place to live in the Las Vegas Valley. Henderson has its own municiple services which answer to its citizens. It has some of the best services in all of Southern Nevada.

Some of this Great Cities Accomplishments include:

First to build an Aquatic Center with outdoor, zero-depth-entry water playground

First to have a park within a mile of every resident

First to locate public parks next to schools, allowing joint use and maximizing programming, while minimizing costs

First to provide ambulance service to residents, allowing maximization of EMT personnel

First to require developers to provide no cost land for schools, parks, fire and police stations

First Farmer's Market in Southern Nevada

First city in state to be financially rated with an AA category with Standard & Poor's and Moody's rating service

First in state to require golf courses use reclaimed water instead of potable (drinking) water for irrigation

First city, acting as a water purveyor, to use ultraviolet disinfection for water supply

First city to stagger work shifts, keeping public services available to residents for longer hours at lower costs

First city to require open and green spaces in developments

First to open Community Policing Centers

First parks and recreation department to win national accreditation

Only state-of-the-art fire training facility, including virtual reality training

Only fire department to win accreditation by two national agencies

Only parks and recreation department to win the National Gold Medal for Excellence in Parks and Recreation

Only Veterans Wall in Southern Nevada

Sports Illustrated named City of Henderson as the Nevada Sportstown for having the best community sports programs 

Largest full-service city in the State of Nevada
