Not a safe place to live

Have lived in Kansas City metro area most of my life, but I'm currently relocating. Violent crime is on the rise in K.C., 126 homicides in 2016, the deadliest in 8 years. I would not recommend Kansas City, unless you live in the safer western suburbs in Johnson County, Kansas: Overland Park, Leawood, Shawnee, Lenexa. Also a good option are the suburbs north of Kansas City, in Liberty or Gladstone. I would avoid downtown/midtown and also the upscale Country Club Plaza area, especially at night.

You sound like my grandma. You sound like someone who locks the doors of your car in the suburbs when your black neighbor walks by the car. In 2016, Kansas City had less than 200 homicides. It barely had over one hundred. That’s nothing compared to other major Midwest cities. I spend time in downtown and midtown constantly and have never once felt threatened or unsafe. Don’t trust this review of Kansas City, it’s inaccurate and this old crone just wanted to complain

I agree Kansas City metro is a very violent place and really does not have much to offer in a city. The natives are in denial about how unfriendly, unimpressive and plain backwards it really is.
