Review of Laramie, Wyoming

A Bike is a vehicle
Star Rating - 6/27/2006
Today as I was parking my bike on capmus near a construction project, One of the construction workers walked toward me. I was sure he was walking pass me on his way to a parking lot. However, it turned out that the bike next to mine was his and it was pulling his tools.

Laramie is a bike town. The are icons of bikers on most streets, identifying the bike lanes. For most drivers there is no contest between a bike and a car, the biker gets the right of way. When I pass a grade school and expect to see a van or a suburban, I see mothers on bikes dropping the kid and the bike off at school. I see people riding them to work. Lots of places to park a bike. That's my kind of culture.

Hi Peggy, I am pleased to know that Laramie is a bike town. I am planning to move there this summer from Madison, Wi. Here we have bike paths, bike lanes, bike parking it is pretty intense. One question...Does Laramie have racial diversity(maybe through the University)or is it an all white community ? Thanks M

Hi Peggy; I have passed through Laramie on many occasions in a van hauling a trailer on my way to craft fairs in NY. this time in the spring I am riding my bike from LA to NYC. I am so happy to hear that Laramie is a bike town. Racial diversity is great, but more important: Laramie is a town with Real People, doing their best, and not running over us people on bicycle. LA is a racially diverse city. but I have bruises for all the times I get forced into the curb by buses and SUVs. I love your article
