boring

I lived in Lincoln for 4 years. Although I liked it, I would not consider moving back there. Yes, the people are nice, it is quiet and safe, but somehow I felt cut off from the rest of the world. If you are not a football fan, you might find it hard to break the ice with strangers. If you are from another country, then don't bother moving here unless you are a student and you can fit into a group from your country. In my interactions with different people, I was flabbergasted at how totally out of date their views were regarding other countries, people etc. Although I loved my work, whenever I took a vacation, I traveled to California or Minnesota, or out of country - this gave me a feeling of back to civilization!
In my view, after retirement, if you are looking for a nice place to settle without much traffic, quiet and peaceful, Lincoln is a good place to retire. You can afford a much bigger house here for the same money than the east/west coasts. If you feel like traveling, both the Omaha and Lincoln airports are available - I have never ever had to wait in line at security at any of these airports!I usually arrive 30 mins before my flight.Getting stuck in traffic is very rare...I was stuck in traffic only once in my 4 years and that was during a Husker football game.
