The University of Nebraska offers a very good education at a resonable price (as compared to other universities). Wesleyan is a smaller liberal arts college that is very good. Southeast Community College offers vocational training (associate degrees) and also works with UNL in offering early college classes (first 2 years math, english, etc.) that transfer directly at an even lower cost. I personally have attended SCC and think that while the classes are compressed (quarter vs. semester system) the classes are much smaller (about 35 students max) and you can get a more hands on, cost effective education for the first 2 years by going this route. Other options also exist in the eastern Nebraska area. The Public school system is what I would term decent to very good, depending on the area of town. Parents in more affluent areas are able to more easily raise money through PTA's and the like for extras that the school district cannot afford. Pick where you live carefully as your children MUST attend the grade/middle school of the district in which you live (of course there is always private school).
