Review of Little Rock, Arkansas

Stay In Your Own Lane....
Star Rating - 8/19/2021
Ive lived in Little Rock for 42 years. Cost of living is cheap here! I rent a 3 BR 1,100 sq Ft townhouse with 30 Ft ceilings and a garage for $650 a month. Everyone talks about the high crime rate. People should realize that you can greatly reduce and even nearly eliminate your chances of becoming a victim of a crime. First, violent crime is almost always the result of a previous altercation. Simply minding your business and being respectful to others along with avoiding particularly dangerous areas will greatly reduce your chances of being a victim of violent crime. Property crime is a little different but certain measures can be taken to reduce your chances of being a victim of property crime as well. Theives are low lifes who operate without boundaries. Meaning a person in poverty is just as likly to become a victim as someone who earns a 7 digit salary. First, people lock your damn doors. Thieves may not have boundries but they are certainly people who act on impuls and are looking for the easiest target possible. Get motion sensored flood lights. Brighter the better. Set up camera system that records and purchase a small tv which you can dedicate to only using as a way to monitor cameras. Most will alert you when motion is detected, and place your monitor near the tv you watch the most so that it can seen effortlessly. The thing about Little Rock is assume that everyone has a loaded weapon. Because more than half of us do. People attempting to steal from you will almost always run away the minute they trigger a motion sensor light. They know the odds that the property owner could step outside with a loaded 12 gauge is about 50%. They will usually decide that there are easier targets somewhere else. Some things cannot be prevented. However, MOST of our crime can be curved by the cities residents. Always be aware of your surroundings and the people around you. Little Rock is not the wild west! But do not come down here with a chip on your shoulder or like your better than anyone else, because your not. We are protective of our city. And we know as soon as you talk whether or not you are from here. If you are not then spend a little time getting to know the demeaner of the people. For example, it is very common to walk into a gas station and end up having a regular conversation with 3, 4, 5 other strangers inside the store. Racism is not a much of a factor in Little Rock. But where you come from can be. I am white and live in the most dangerous zip code
