Review of Manchester, Michigan

Not the worst place I've linved but pretty close.
Star Rating - 4/6/2024
I've lived here more than 10 years. The town council changes little and is stagnant. Infrastructure has declined and the community seems propped up by state funds. Larger projects often go over budget. I heard the state took control of the last project because the community made too many errors. They are currently in the process of removing the dams on what appears to be incomplete information. A member of the council driving the removal has family that will gain property value of hundreds of thousands of dollars. Crime is more likely to come from neighbors than outsiders. There community funds were embezzled a few years ago that was burred. Enforcement is not equal or consistent with some people getting away bad behavior. Some residents spread into others property. I've heard some people bought property on claims that were not true. The school system is average with the athletic department probably getting more attention than the 3 R's. I'd move out but property value keeps getting less because there are so many lots available and more are coming. The worst part is townspeople are not informed what's really going on up front and only gets information the way the community is going till it's too late. Then the information is tailored to say what the council wants. The best advice I could give to someone looking to move here is get a lawyer first, make sure the property is yours and you're getting the property rights you pay for, don't assume.
