Review of Mooresville, North Carolina

Moving to Mooresville from Grand Rapids MI in Octo
Star Rating - 8/5/2013
Husband is being transferred to Mooresville in a month. I know nothing about the area. Have a 1 year old and 2 dogs. Need to find a rental home or apartment in a good area ASAP. Our mortgage in our beautiful 2,500 sq ft home in Grand Rapids now is only $560/month. Looking to keep it in the price range as the pay increase to move is minimal, but want to be in a good area/school district. Willing to rent until the right home comes along, but don't even know where to start looking. Also... info on the area would be great. We have a boat, are the rumors that Lake Norman is really high traffic true? Also, what about roads? Are the outdated? Local business? Is it overun with franchises as stated in a previous comment? Weather? Bugs? Things to do? Nightlife? Any help is appreciated. Not really sure where else to go to help me with this. Thanks in advance.

Hi Shannon. My name is James and I live in Cornelius which is a few minutes south of Mooresville. I'm sure by now you have found a rental or even purchased a home. Welcome to Lake Norman! I doubt that you will find a 2500 sf home in the area for 550-600 per month as the Lake comes with a price. There are pockets in the town where you may find something smaller for close to that but definitely not on the lake. The Pit is a pretty cool place for kids and kids' B'day parties. Rt 150 can be pretty congested as it is mercantile and commercial for the most part. There's plenty of Northerners to compliment the Southern population. I believe the key to earning trust is respecting the Southern culture. Lots of wonderful people who've grown up here and lots of college grads too. Yes, Lake Norman can be congested during the weekends and I will be straight with you - there is a lot of alcohol being consumed on those boats. Be careful. Roads in NC are generally pretty good. Infrastructure needs improving and the cities can't keep up with homebuilders. They are working on it tho. Tough to balance taxes and improvements to public roads, etc. Weather is incredible! Little muggy in the summer but mild winters are the payoff. Nightlife is more in Charlotte but that's more for the younger crowd. Hope this is helpful. If you or your hubby need more info, you can email me at Jamesjjansen1@ me.com. Or if you live in Mooresville, I work at the Remax office at exit 36, behind Chick-fil-A near I-77. 121 Rolling Hill Rd. Both of you feel free to drop in. Coffee is always on! Hope this helps. Blessings!
