Review of Moreno Valley, California

Moreno Valley is known as the "Valley of the Dirt
Star Rating - 2/1/2006
Moreno Valley is in the center of Riverside and San Bernardino. It is surrounded by a lot of dirt and beautiful rock mountains. In the winter after the rains it is very very green. It may be surrounded by dirt but it is a nice sight. Lots of open air!
We moved here 3 years ago and the city has cleaned up dramatically. It is turning into a decent city. Unfortunitly it still has a lot of trashy people that do not care about their streets or shut their dogs up. I have 3 Husky's. None of them bark because they will get in trouble. If you can teach a dog to sit, catch, help the blind, you can tech them to shut up as well. The people here don't understand that. They also do not know how to turn down the radio and go BOOMING around the streets all hours of the night. Like I said, it is getting better. Imagine how it was 3 years ago.
I'm leaving and going to Texas! Forget this place. Too much trash and too many rude people still!

Wow, you people are ridiculous. Seriously. I've read the reasons for not liking the town and they all seem, frankly stupid. The latest one is because of the dentist, teacher, and doctor. Another one was because of Mexicans. Another for high crime (never mind that crime is actually below the national average). I grew up here since the 1980s. My parents were here since the 1960s (dad went to UCR, they bought a house in Sunnymead). Things changed. It no longer is a majority White rural community. It is a middle income multi-racial community. That's all it is. Nothing more, nothing less. Do I miss when there was barely anyone here. Yes and no. With growth comes problems, and opportunities. However, the rants against the city simply are dumb. The biggest gripe I have is the school district. A city that has a median income of $70,000 (more than the state average) should have a decent school district. Other than that, it's a pretty average town. You also have to look at potential. It is right next to the fastest public university in California, on the route of the high speed rail (just approved for another $1 billion grant), will be home to one of the state's largest medical complexes. Let's not mention that it is in the heart of one of the fastest growing counties in the nation. So take that into consideration too (along with the ACTUAL facts concerning the town).

Moreno Valley has grown since 2006, and every town has trashy people. I really enjoy our town.
