Review of Nashville, Tennessee

I have been doing a lot of research trying to figure out where I want to live. Not having children,, one of the first things I look at is the crime index. I was stunned to see that Nashville has the exact same index as Detroit. I see people writing about car theft & burglary, however, nobody is talking about violent crime. What is happening and are there safe areas?

I've been here 30 years and I admit that there is a lot of crime. Your best bet is to move to an area right outside of Nashville that still has everything you need. Hendersonville and Brentwood are both very close to Nashville and are great areas to live. Pretty much any smaller area right outside of Nashville is ideal. There are still some neighborhoods in Nashville that are safe. You just have to know which ones they are. I try to avoid the areas that aren't. Good luck.
