Think carefully before moving to Nashville

I recently moved to the Nashville area from California and it is a big difference socially. Nashville is a great place to visit, get an affordable education, wonderful music industry, great restaurants and a great place to start a business. But unless you are a conservative christian family man or woman, you are going to feel like an outcast in most respectable social circles. If your liberal the best you can do is stay close to the city. Don't be fooled. The further you venture outside the growing metropolis into the surrounding new modern burbs, you will realize diversity is structured by social segregation. There is no diversity among the educated middle or upper middle class. The south tends to be 30 years behind socially. A progressive social mentality has yet to catch up with the advancement of industry. Natives are polite and mannerable; but if they don't like you---your an outcast. You can't get a job unless they like you, regardless if you are qualified for the job. Southern hospitality is over-rated. Most seem to be comfortable with those which are a reflection of themselves. If you are from the west-coast or the east-coast, good-luck making a life here. I suggest coming back in about 50 years.
