Trying to relocate to Nashville from Northern Virg

I was thinking about possibly relocating to Nashville from the Fairfax County\Northern Virginia area. It is much too expensive to live in the Northern Virginia where the average apartment rent is well over $1200 a month, and the average single family home price is around $600,000. How is the quality of life and the culture in Nashville?
