My husband and I went to New Orleans on vacation in 2003 - we left early. We went back just this month on our way to Texas and found that other than fewer residents, it really hasn't changed. A high percentage of the people are unbelieveably ignorant and low class, the crime is horrible... Just a very low-rent feel to the whole area, not even just New Orleans. I don't think it's a coincidence that Houston has begun suffering with a lot more problems since so many New Orleans residents moved there after Katrina - it says a lot when the people from one city are so low class that they drag down a whole 'nother area just by moving in. Urban blight and a lazy, nasty population at its finest.
