I've lived in New Orleans for over 20 years and as a single woman I contiually find that not only do the locals lack a certain level of morals but the city also attracts some serious low lifes. I guess it is because it is touted as a party city. The quality of life, especially now, after Katrina is poorer than ever. It was bad before but now it's horrible. Because it has a very small middle class, you find people willing to do anything for financial gain. Because the political climate, small town poltics, is the way of life here if you have something to offer then you are in. Because the educational system has been crippled for decades, you have few people with problem solving skills and comprehension skills.
What's really interesting is that most natives have a lot of pride. I'm not sure why. The city is dirty and poorly ran.
