Review of Oakland, California

Growth and change in the Waterfront Warehouse Dist
Star Rating - 10/14/2007
We bought a new condo in the Waterfront Warehouse District in 2004, and we've seen the neighborhood improve steadily over the past few years. The construction of other new apartments, condos, and lofts have brought a lot of new residents to area, and hopefully new shops and restaurants will soon follow.

In the meantime, we've really enjoyed living so central to a lot of activity in the East Bay. We're just a 10 minute walk from Jack London Square where you can find great restaurants like Yoshi's, and Everett & Jones, a movie theater, and a nice farmer's market on Sundays. Our neighborhood is also a short walk from downtown Oakland, and for a change of scenery, downtown Alameda is a very short drive away. The Lake Merritt BART station is just a few blocks away, so it's easy to quickly get to San Francisco or even SFO when you don't want to drive.

There aren't many families with young children in the area, but overall, the neighborhood is a great place for singles and couples of all ages.
