Review of Omaha, Nebraska

Nebraska sucks
Star Rating - 2/11/2011
My opinion of Omaha. They build a unnecessary bridge to walk from one side of the downtown area to another, and a unnecessary stadium for all the baseball fans, if you are not a Husker fan, they think you are an alien, but their loyalty greatly fades if the Huskers are not winning. The winters are freezing and the roads are constantly in need of repair or in the process of repair, which seems like it take can as long as 2 or 3 years to complete, depending on where you live. They don't provide for the homeless and women with chidren who need assistance, but they build a new animal shelter that is state of the art, while the homeless have to wait for an opening and meantime sleep under cardboard boxes in minus 0 degree weather. The property taxes are way out of sight compared to other cities in the midwest and the South. Plus the doctors here are some of the worst Dr's I have ever seen. UNMC is supposed to be one of the best medical facilities in the nation. However try to get in to see a rheumatologist or another specialist and you have to wait 4 or 5 mos. and they won't let you see one of the other dr's on staff if your dr. has no appts for 4 or 5 mos.Plus many of the doctors I have seen there also contract out to the VA hospital and also teach therefore in my opinion do not provide quality care, because they are too busy. Other doctors there seem to have a "I don't really care about you, or your health care needs". Creighton is the same. Poor doctors. rated as some of the worst on Rate an MD site. In order to get respect you seem to have to be one of the 'elete' rich people. The welfare system sucks, so people who really do need help are treated like scum.

Nebraska sucks. We have a governor who uses his power to force his personal beliefs on everyone. He wanted the death penalty brought back so he went and bought expired illegal non-FDA approved lethal injection drugs from India with state money. Why was legal action never brought? Because he's a Republican and Nebraska loves Republican. Donald Trump could go on a raping/shooting spree and the entire state of Nebraska would still support him. Also, the EPA (before Trump basically killed it) declared that Omaha's air quality was low and was going to put us on a list with California. There were plans to change certain things (like stop light timing) to improve air quality but out Governor Pete Rickets decided that suing the EPA was a better idea. So nothing was done about the air quality. We're so prejudice against gay people, at one point, a national gay rights organization (don't remember, but it was in the news paper) was planning to send out their very first field officer to Nebraska. A position created specifically in response to the hatred in the state. The World Herald is nothing but a conservative small business administration mouth piece. Half of NBC local news is thinly veiled advertisements for products...seriously! They tell you what new hot thing to buy for summer, Christmas, Tuesday, etc. People in Nebraska have the "people who don't own guns deserve to be shot" attitude. The road rage is horrific. Card swerve into oncoming traffic to get around each other. I've had object thrown at me and I have no idea why. Is it because the streets are a joke and so people are just that pissed off? Every year the potholes get so bad that sometimes the mayor starts a temporary hotline for people to call in to report potholes and have wheel replacements paid for by the city. This place is a joke.

If you move to Nebraska your IQ will drop by 10 - 15 points and you will become very angry but will soon learn to hide it behind an obviously fake customer service politeness that never allows you to show the real you in public as you smile like a zombie 100% of the time while slowly dying inside.

In Omaha Pizza Hut is gourmet food and Step Brothers is considered an art film.

Nebraska may be underappreciated, but we are OKAY, okay? We already have all of the citizens in the wealthier states on our backs about it, so we know, and are tired of hearing about it over and over. The thing is, I've noticed that others will always critique us because we are different. And those other states can just quit being stupid, selfish, materialistic bullies about it, because we aren't changing a THING about our HOME. We are teased about this all the time, it's nothing new. Those insults aren't special. We are tired of being pushed around for this, because the other states don't think we are living according to our new slogan NICE. Well, although we aren't bright, shiny objects that the other states think they are, we love this place. So, here are the facts. Not all of Nebraska is made of crops, and cows, and people here don't all speak in that steryotypical accent everyone else thinks we talk in. We also don't all dress like the farmhands some people hink we are. People only insult us because they want to see our hurt faces, because we are TRYING, okay. I am proud to be here, so I don't grow up the be a spoiled brat. Or a lazy person. Here, you learn from your mistakes, and work hard, harder than some of the other states think. Because, the real reason that things are lower priced here, is because we get payed less. But, we are expected to be hit with those hurtful words, I won't. I am going to type a heated response to this, because times are changing, and it is high time to prove to all of the haters, and self absorbed other children in America that say we are living a horrible life, because, we aren't. We are often very happy to work, and we work HARD. Much harder tha other states and other people think we do. I'm 13 years old, and I already know that. You will almost never meet nicer people than in Nebraska, we all pitch in for charity work, because we all know what it is like to live without. We all are pretty much accepting in this community because it is truely a melting pot of colors and cultures, not to mention feelings and ideas. Anyone who says different, has never been to Nebraska. We are happy when people critique us sometimes, because we know that "They're REALLY missing out". We have the BEST zoo in the world in the city of Omaha, which houses about 1.4 million people, Lincon and Bellevue have about the same amount, and Nebraska is home to over2.2 million people. We have steak of the same quality New York gets, because they order it from us, but it is fresher here, so it is better quality. We have a very festive city portion in our great state, and when we walk around town and say "Hello" to someone, instead of the response being "Shut up", the person you talk to says "Hello" back. The moral being, altough we may not live the "American Dream", we are Americans of different colors with the same values, and we dream. We work for what the founders of our beloved nation fought for, happiness, hard work, and people helping you along the way. You know, dispite being the laughingstock of the states, we still buy presents for others on Christmas and for Birthdays, and stay up all night on New Years Eve, we set off fireworks on the 4th of July, and celebrate Memorial Day, Father's Day, Mother's Day, Veteren's Day, and everything inbetween. There is nothing more American than that, many other Nebraskans agree with me, God bless America, Let Freedom Ring.
